Six Sigma is a business management strategy originally developed by Motorola, USA in 1986. It seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization.
Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a strategic performance management tool - a semi-standard structured report, supported by proven design methods and automation tools, which can be used by managers to keep track of the execution of activities by the staff within their control and to monitor the consequences arising from these actions.
Quality System can be considered to have four main components: quality planning, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement. It is focused not only on product/service quality, but also the means to achieve it. It is therefore uses quality assurance and control of processes as well as products to achieve more consistent quality.
Philippine Quality Award (PQA) is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance. It aims to stimulate local companies and organizations to improve quality and productivity for the pride of recognition while obtaining a competitive edge and providing example to others. Also, it promotes sharing of information and benchmarking of best practices and results among organizations pursuing quality improvement.
All these four topics are about business and company management and improvement. It is also about quality and strategy management of a company. But the last one is about awards, the PQA. Perhaps, it’s still about quality management.
